The Amsterdam-based distribution arm of Off the Fence (OTF) has announced a deal with global factual entertainment brand Curiosity for a 190-hour package of content across the natural history, travel, true-crime and history genres.

The deal will see OTF deliver 80 across-genre titles to Curiosity’s flagship streaming service, Curiosity Stream, including both series and feature documentaries.

Highlights of the deal include Terra Mater Factual Studios’ Earth: The Nature of Our Planet (3 x 60 min., pictured), which explores the beauty, complexity and challenges of our world over three episodes: “Air,” “Land” and “Water.”

Also in the package is My Greek Odyssey, with the first four series totaling 41 hours worth of content. Produced by The Rusty Cage, the series brings viewers aboard superyacht Mia Zoi for a voyage around the Greek islands, with detours into the region’s history, culture, cuisine and peoples.

The 60-minute documentary Supersonic: The Great Adventure is also headed for Curiosity Stream. Produced by Bleu Kobalt for RMC Découverte, the film explores humankind’s 70-plus-year obsession with high-speed aviation, from Chuck Yeager’s breaking of the sound barrier in 1947 to recent civilian jet projects designed to cross the Atlantic in less than four hours.

On the true-crime side of things is Vivid Page Media’s Innocent Behind Bars (8 x 60 min.), which looks at the impact of wrongful convictions. Each episode tells the harrowing story of someone convicted of a crime they didn’t commit, and their fight to prove their innocence.

Fusing the true-crime and history genres is Anne Boleyn: Arrest, Trial, Execution, produced by Lion Television/Motion Content Company for UK’s Channel 5. The three-part series accompanies historian Tracy Borman as she sheds new light on the story of Henry VIII’s second wife, who went from queen of England to condemned woman in a span of less than three weeks in May 1536.

“Our relationship with Curiosity spans multiple roles, and is one we hold up as an exemplary partnership model for specialist factual channels,” said Stefanie Fischer, managing director of sales at OTF, in a release. “As a producer of Curiosity original content out of our Bristol production base and a distributor and pre-sale partner on multiple projects, our companies are very aligned and our content offering is a natural fit, which allows us to curate packages that span the range of different genres viewers can find across all of Curiosity’s platforms.”

In other OTF sales news, the company has also signed a number of deals with broadcasters around the world for Plane Crash Recreated. Produced by Dash Pictures (formerly SWR Media) in association with OTF Studios, the series (10 x 60 min.) investigates the world’s most infamous plane crashes, using survivor stories, expert interviews and black-box data to revisit the last moments on board. The series was pre-sold to co-finance partner NTV in Germany, which aired the show in summer 2021. It has since been picked up by Discovery Benelux; Disney/NGC in Poland, Hungary and Romania; Auto TV in Russia; Dox TV in Ex-Yugoslavia; Disney Latin America; and Legend Media in China.
