The Marathon American Legion Post 469 baseball team’s summer season is already in full swing.
Marathon High School 2021 graduate Brock Warren was an all-star player on Post 469’s squad last summer; he now plays baseball at Division 3 Ripon College.
Other former Post 469 baseball players to earn an all-star nod between 1999 to 2021 are: Mike Hanke in 2003, Andy Starzinski in 2006, David Schreier in 2008, Tyler Hamann in 2009, Cody Hanke in 2011, Collin Seubert in 2013,
Alex Blume in 2015, Ryan Gassner in 2016 and Mitchell Kurtz in 2019.
Last summer, Warren climbed to the top of the Marathon American Legion Post 469 baseball squad’s career hitting list, with a minimum of 200 at-bats between 1999 and 2021, with a .399 batting average.
Schreier is second on the Post 469 career hitting list with a .385 batting average. The late Andy Kaldunksi, whose Marathon High School baseball uniform number is retired on the home ball park’s outfield fence, is third on the list with a .384 average.
Tyler Hamann still sits at the top of the Marathon American Legion Post 469 baseball team’s career pitching leaders, with a minimum of 100 innings pitched between 1999 and 2021. Hamann has a pitching record of 30-12 with 266 strikeouts in 257-1/2 innings with a 2.50 Earned Run Average (ERA). Schreier is second on the squad’s career pitching list with a record of 26-10 with 242 strikeouts in 204 innings pitched with a 3.03 ERA. Ryan Gasssner is third best with a pitching record of 26-10 with 343 strikeouts in 204 innings with a 1.81 ERA; he does have the most strikeouts of any Marathon American Legion Post 469 pitcher.
There are many baseball players from Stratford on the Marshfield Post 54 senior Blue Devils baseball team this summer, including 2021 high school graduates Kale Weisenberger, Riley Bauman and Colton Schillinger along with current high school players Jackson Ormond and Braeden Schueller. Former Stratford star baseball player Eli Drexler, who now plays Division 2 college baseball at the University of Minnesota-Duluth and is a former Blue Devil, is the senior legion team’s assistant coach this summer.
The Marshfield Post 54 American Legion junior Blue Devils baseball squad also has many players from Stratford this summer, including Henry Zaleski, Cayden Leonhardt, Riley Kroening, Vance Kielman, Jack Tubbs and Brady Schmidt.
The Marshfield Post 54 American Legion junior and senior teams will play home games this Thursday, June 23, at Jack Hackman Field. The junior legion squad will start things off at 5 p.m. and the senior legion team will begin its game shortly after the conclusion of the junior legion contest.
